Intern – Quantitative Researcher

About the Role

We are looking for student interns for Summer 2025 who are interested in quantitative analysis in the power market. The intern will learn about the fundamentals of the power market, and engage in providing analysis, insights, and expertise in electricity markets. This will include projects on various aspects of the market to provide analytical support on power system design and analysis, supply and demand analysis, generate systematic trade strategies, model pricing trends, and identify energy trading opportunities in general.

This role will require developing a deep fundamental understanding of network modeling, economic dispatch, linear optimization, grid topology and other factors that contribute to price formation and congestion patterns (weather, dispatch, load, fuel, outages, transmission, etc.).

The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in statistical tools and coding skills, the ability to develop market simulation frameworks such as predictive models, and the capacity to analyze the impact of relevant market information to support the Traders in identifying opportunities and risks. This role will also require providing ad hoc analyses for the trading desk during market hours. Previous knowledge or experience in the power market is preferred but NOT required.

This individual will provide analysis, insights, and expertise in electricity markets. In this capacity, you will collaborate with senior members of the Trading team in the design, development, and maintenance of Quantitative trading analytical tools. This will include performing market analysis to support energy trading opportunities and quantitatively driven research activities such as research and modeling on a range of topics.
